How It Works

Got a specific Bible passage you’re speaking on? Want to know if we’ve got any resource related to that passage? Well, our site offers a simple, efficient way to find out.

Using the Bible Verse Search Tool located near the top left hand side of the website, simple select which book of the Bible you want. If you don’t see a specific Bible book in the list, that means we have no content related to book… yet.

In the example shown on the right, the book of Psalms is selected.

Now, if you are doing a series on an entire book, you can click submit now and see every resource we have that has a connection to that Bible book.

However, you can decide to be more specific by choosing an exact chapter of that book in the drop down that appears once a Bible book is selected. You will only see chapters that we have contented associated with.

In the example shown on the right, only chapters 23, 27 and 139 are shown which means there was no content available for the remaining chapters.

After you've chosen a chapter, you can now click submit and see every resource available for that specific chapter. A great time-saving tool if you are doing a presentation on an entire chapter.

Or… for the finest of detail, you can search for resources from a specific verse from the chapter and book that you have already chosen. Simply choose the verse number from the drop down and click submit.

The example on the right shows that there are resources available for only verses 13 and 14 in chapter 139 of Psalms.

As with the other drop menus… if you don’t see a verse number it means we have no content associated with that Bible verse… yet. We’re still young.

So, with just a couple clicks you can quickly see if we have any resource, whether it be an illustrative video, a motion background, a curriculum series, a still image, that has to do with the Bible passage you will be teaching on.

Media Details Page Bible Search Tips

You find yourself on the details page of one of our media resources. This particular resource is associated with one or more specific Bible passages, but you would like to quickly know what else might be available in that passage. Here are a couple tips to help you use the full search capabilities of our site.

You will notice specific passages listed under the Bible Reference area. Each of these passages contain multiple links to help you search for additional resources related to that specific passage.

• If you click on the Bible book name, the site will take you to all resources we have relating to that specific Bible book.
• If you click on the chapter number the site will take you to all resources we have related to that specific chapter in that Bible book.
• And, of course, if you click on the verse number the site will take you to all resources we have related to that specific verse in the Bible.

Just another way for you to quickly and efficiently search our site for resources pertaining to a specific Bible book, chapter or verse. Just keep in mind that in the early stages of this ministry, many of these searches will return only the piece of media you were originally looking at… but give us time and the collection of resources will grow.

Why We Include This Search Tool

Isn’t it frustrating when you’re speaking on a specific Bible passage and you want to see if a resource website has any media associated with that passage… but you can’t?

Or, you can’t very easily.

Hey, I’ve been there too, having pastored for over 10 years. I remember one excellent site (which shall remain nameless) that offered a Search by Bible Verse tool. I was very excited to give it a try. Here’s what took place:

• I selected a specific book from a drop down containing all 66 Bible books.
• Then I selected a specific chapter from a drop down containing every chapter in that book.
• Then I selected a specific verse from a drop down containing every verse in that chapter.
• I then click “Submit” and…

…Ta Da! I get a page that says, “No media associated with that verse.” And now I get to start all over again, trying another verse.

That’s like searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack. There are over 31,000 verses in the entire Bible… after 3 unsuccessful attempts with three different verses, I got so frustrated I gave up. (perhaps I frustrate easy, but it was a highly inefficient, ineffective method to search their media collection.)

As a result of that experience, and others like them, I vowed that when we started Muddy River Media, the site would allow a person to quickly and efficiently see if we had resources associated with a specific passage. This has led to the development of our Bible Verse Search tool.
